Universal Studios Hollywood has officially announced that the highly anticipated Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash attraction will opening on March 27th of this year! The ride will feature many different technological elements and a virtual queue will be used to give guests a more enjoyable experience. The ride will be opening up directly across Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem and have a themed street right next to it called ‘Pet’s Place’.
When the ride opens it will be a dark ride that features 64 different animatronics to life. The many animated figures will capture every motion that guests would expect to see from the beloved animals. Whether it be the flip of a dogs long ear or the wag of a dogs tail, the 64 technologically advanced animated figures will bring even more excitement to the attraction as guests see meet their favorite characters while on their adventure. From blinking eyes to eye and eyebrow movements, from head tilts to head nods, from moving mouths to smiles, from ear curls to lip curls, from full torso twists to physically walking, the depth of mobility and function programmed within each of these loveable characters. Each character will feature original dialogue from actors like Kevin Hart, Eric Stonestreet, and many more.
Apart of the whole experience, Universal Studios Hollywood will be using the Virtual Queue System that has been used for attractions at Universal Studios over in Florida. Guests will be able to join the Virtual Queue by using their Universal Studios Hollywood official app or by visiting one of the kiosks at the park in the NYC Subway Station located adjacent to the attraction. This location will also be located inside of Pet’s Place, the brand new location will play a big part in the full immersive experience with store fronts that fit the New York City Street theme. The Virtual Queue technology should give guests wishing to experience the Off the Leash attraction, a way better overall experience.
The reasoning behind using the Virtual Queue is because the attraction will serve a ‘non traditional queue line’. This will play even more into guests experience because they will get to roam around apartment rooms like Katie’s building, the Dachsund ‘Buddy’s’ apartment, ‘Snowball’ owner Molly’s living room, as well as ‘Max’ and ‘Duke’s’ apartment. This will give guests the opportunity to take picture and freely roam around while approaching the rides loading station. With an experience like this, it would be kind of difficult to use a stand by queue with how small the actual line is due to the space that Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash is located at. Personally we think that the Virtual Queue technology will only be used the first month of opening and weekends as the year goes on.
There will be a series of technological firsts implemented into this attraction that will bring technology like facial recognition to the experience. The sophisticated technology will identify each guests as a unique stray puppy for the duration of the experience. Each different time that guests experience The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash attraction they will be able to view themselves as a different stray puppy creating for many different experiences each and every time a guests enjoys the ride in a unique way.
The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash attraction will open at Universal Studios Hollywood in Spring of this year so make sure to check out the Universal Studios website to purchase both tickets and annual passes today to the Entertainment Capital of L.A. There is much to see and do at the theme park and with the NEW addition of this attraction later this year, it adds to the lineup of amazing experiences and rides that Universal Studios Hollywood has to offer!
